€1. That’s the solution.
In Sicily’s villages, there is no vet for many animals. No help with injuries. No vaccinations. No comfort.
My vision:
The VETmobil for villages and stray animals.
A mobile veterinary practice that visits residents in rural areas as well as colonies of stray animals.
50,000 people. Just €1 a month each. That’s all it takes.
1% of Sicilians. €1. One life saved.
Will you help out? 💛
The VETmobil Sicily...
...a second-hand ambulance originally used in human medicine, fully equipped as a mobile veterinary practice.
It goes wherever help is needed...
...legeneto remote villages, to families in need, to stray animals.
With your help, my vision can become a reality.
At the same time, we can offer young vets a secure livelihood.
At the VETmobil in Sicily, the vet treats animals belonging to people living in poverty and stray animals.
In rural areas, the nearest vet is often 30 or 40 kilometres away. For people with little money, this is an insurmountable obstacle. For injured strays, it often means the end.
Sicily has a population of around 5 million.
If just 1% of them – that is, 50,000 residents – donate just 1 euro a month, the VETmobil in Sicily will be funded.
cover approximately €50,000 per month:
-
Purchase and maintenance of the vehicle.
-
A vet's salary.
-
Medicines and consumables.
-
Running costs (fuel, insurance, etc.)
With a monthly donation of 1 euro (“caffè sospeso*”), you can help ensure that a vet goes where they are most urgently needed.*
*It is estimated that 20–30 VETmobiles are needed for rural areas in Sicily.
*The custom of the ‘caffè sospeso’ (the ‘suspended coffee’) is a local tradition that has been rooted in Neapolitan culture since the early 20th century and has become established in many of the city’s bars: in addition to the coffee you pay for, a second one is offered. This second coffee is donated to those in need
Locals attribute the tradition to the fact that, throughout history, Neapolitans have often had to fend for themselves. In this context, structures of self-governance developed to compensate for the lack of political leadership.
